GORGEOUS RARE VICTORIAN SPANISH MANTILLA AND/OR FLAMENCO DANCER COMB
ALL ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION
Features Victorian jet black glass with various shapes and sizes of faceted glass stones. Especially unique are the triangular cut ones. All are set onto a japanned black metal backing
A pinback is attached on the back of the black top piece.it is soldered onto the metal there. Has the older, slender C clasp which dates it to the mid 1800's. I assume it is there to secure the comb to whatever head piece the dancer or lady is wearing.
The comb portion is made from old plastic made to look like tortoiseshell. The black portion is riveted onto the plastic comb portion.
A VERY RARE, COOL, AWESOME, PIECE!
Measures 5~1/2" long. The black glass portion measures 2~5/8" long x 3~1/4" across at the widest top area then graduating down to 1~1/2" across at the bottom
Substantial weight due to the glass and metal top weighing in at 37.1 grams / 1.31 oz
This comb is in beautiful antique condition! All intact!
The only thing to note is that the pin back itself is slightly bent
