Design patent filed Dec. 1943

Vintage Trifari Jelly Belly Owl fur clip by Alfred Philippe. Well documented, highly sought after, and in very good - excellent vintage condition for its age. This fur clip was designed by Alfred Philippe, design patent #  135191.  It's in wonderful original condition, clear lucite belly and all stones intact. Sterling silver metal has a gold wash that now has slightly faded in some places but with nice original surface gold still seen. Measures just over 2~1/4" tall. Clear lucite forms the owls' body. Lucite "belly" is nice and large, gives the striking look Trifari Jelly belly pieces have. This piece is especially charming with wonderful 3D design seen in the owl's head and eye area. Features emerald colored glass cabochon eyes and clear rhinestones on the top of the head, wings and tail. All set in sterling silver metal with a gold plated finish. There is a bit of a mystery about this particular owl in that it is not stamped sterling anywhere and also does not have the design patent mark. It is definitely sterling silver as it has tested as that with acid. Anyone with information on this please let me know. Maybe it's a first run or trial piece? Always love a mystery, lol!
Marks: Trifari with a crown over the T
Measures just over 2~1/4" long x 1~1/4" across at the widest point
This pin is in the original vintage condition as found - has been very lightly cleaned. No replaced stones, no repairs, lucite has a few, very faint, surface scratches indicative of age; nothing visible unless looking under magnification. Normal excellent vintage condition - no  problems noted. Email with any questions
