I bought this almost 30 years ago when I lived in Tucson, Az. I attended the Gem and mineral show for many years and I purchased this from a seller who stated it was from the Inspiration Mine region (Arizona).

Spectacular, rare, gem silica rough specimen. A combination of azurite malachite, druzy, chrysocolla, in a green mineral/gem matrix  which I am not completely sure what all of the minerals are. There are several colors of green on the back but this is not very thick. A lot of chrysocolla drusy formations are also on the back. An enchanting landscape of beautiful, bubbly, blue, hills and caves, just gorgeous!

I had to take new photos of this piece, my first ones did not show the variety of minerals and details this specimen has. So now there are lots of photos which still don't show all of the intricate features this gem has but it's an big improvement, lol. One photo picked up areas of a deep blue cobalt color on the very bottom, like a rich lapis blue shade. This shows on the back of the specimen which with the flash you can see, but not with the naked eye. The darkest roundish spot on the front is actually a deep brownish green color with areas of blue inside of it. (see photos)

The polished front shows beautiful transparency with spectacular depth of color throughout, There are cave like pockets, a delicately sparkling spot of quartz crystal formations, contrast of light colors of blue against darker shades. One area I especially love is a pyramid shaped pocket, simply magical!  This fantastic specimen in the right artistic hands could make several high end jewelry pieces, bur it is also a beautiful specimen just like it is now.

Extremely hard gem quality material!

Measures just a tad under 4"across x 1~13/16" high, tapers down to approx.1" high at the end, but still with depth there

Measures 1~7/8" deep at the back, pretty consistent with it being just a bit less deep towards one side

Weighs 774 carats,

155 grams / 5.47 oz

 Surface has slight polish marks.
