Operculum sea shells in jewelry are usually seen in Victorian and early 20th century and although this set is from a bit later time period it is spectacular. The shells are beautifully enhanced in this unique bracelet and earrings set. Dating to the 1950's era the design and construction resembles Miriam Haskell (as well as DeMario) jewelry. The metal has a beautiful rich warm gold plated finish, very much like the Russian plated pieces seen in the vintage Haskell pieces. The bracelet is made with six large, layered, dimensional flower shaped links which feature large Operculum shells, (also known as peacock eye & cat's eye shells) , which are surrounded by rhinestones and glass pearls. These are tucked in the petal area which hold the shells in place. It has a fold over clasp which when closed is hidden, another quality feature seen in this piece. Matching clip back earrings are identical in size and shape making a super nice set. All pieces are in excellent vintage condition. Bracelet measures 7" long x 5/8" wide, the earrings 5/8" in diameter. Gorgeous~
