SPECTACULAR ETRUSCAN STYLE AUSTRO HUNGARIAN BELT BUCKLE
Gorgeous and ornate this belt buckle is most likely Hungarian with its distinct design elements and construction. The metal is very hard with a gilded gold finish. It could be solid brass but because it is so very solid and hard, and now, looking very closely, I see glints of silver in one small area - a thin place on the edge of one he loop, so I'm thinking it a silver or a hard white metal mix of some sort gilded with brass or gold.
The piece is breathtakingly beautiful, ornate, with very elaborate metal work, some areas of the metal resemble Etruscan metal work. Tiny glass seed pearls along with tiny opalescent glass cabs are set throughout the piece. Larger glass cabochons are made of glass which is rare; dark blue swirls with lighter blue below that, these cabochons have a dimensional look to them. I've never seen any like them anywhere

This buckle came in a box which states " J Weidner Hamburg 39 Alsterdamm im hotel de l' Europe.
Measures 2~3/4" long x 3~1/4" across.
This will be a wonderful item to add to any vintage jewelry, accessory collection.
