BOUCHER huge 'Lovebirds on a Pearl Nest' pin
I am 99% sure this is a copy, however, it is beautifully made and my price is a fraction of what it would be if this was an original Boucher Lovebirds With Nest Pin.
There is an original one offered for sale on the net that is priced over $2500 at the moment. This piece is $160.
I believe this was made in Germany around the 1980's. When I was selling at shows in the mid 1990's there was some information going around that a person somehow got molds of a lot of high end designer pieces and had them remade again. The story was she took the molds to Germany and had the jewelry made there to assure excellence in quality. Boucher was one of the designers but there were several others as well. I believe this piece is one of those restrikes from the 1980's. A telling factor is the size as well as the Cap mark. The original piece was 4" x 3" . This one is 4~1/8" wide by 3 ~1/16" long. Boucher mark looks slightly different
Original piece was made in the 1940 's and today is a highly sought after collectible BOUCHER design. No wonder someone remade it! This piece features subtle, blended, enamel to the bird's head crest, breast and wings. Metallic green on the leaves. Pave rhinestone are set throughout throughout. Faux pearl eggs. Extremely dimensional with amazing detail. Rhodium-plated base metal.
Gorgeous brooch in excellent vintage condition as it is around 30 years old. Great history as well
Oh yes, how did I get it you ask? When selling at the Nashville monthly Flea market I bought it from a gal who came to my booth and offered to sell it to me, which, of course, I did.
