This is a spectacular artist designed haute couture pearl and shell necklace. I purchased it at an antique show though it is a more recent piece. I don't know who made it but it was so stunning I had to have it. Made with 5 strands of freshwater baroque pearls which culminate into a massive mother of pearl flower focal point with huge mother of pearl beads depicting the flower petals. This blossom is hand wired together and is set off center so it lays on the side of the neckline. The pearls make a beautiful backdrop for it, draping gracefully around it, just breathtaking. This is not a mass produced piece, I have purchased those and they are nowhere near the size, weight and quality of this piece. When you wear this you will be NOTICED, really! I bought it to keep but I really am keeping too many fabulous pieces with more I want to buy. It's a delightful obsession with no end in sight, lol~ The specifics are as follows: There are 3 sizes of pearls, the large ones are an elongated round shape which average about 10mm x 8mm. The others are small, used at the back of the necklace. Tiny iridescent glass beads are strung in between the main pearls. The necklace measures 18" long and has an elegant sterling silver clasp. The 5 pearl strands are graduated in length. The MOP flower measures 3~1/4" round, the shell petals are 1~1/4" long x 1" wide on average. An awesome piece to be sure, you will love it~
