Early Unsigned Miriam Haskell Flower Brooch
This rare Miriam Haskell brooch dates to the 1930's era. Exceptional, three dimensional design and construction features four celluloid bell flowers, three of which which drop from long, curving, stems. The fourth bottom flower is hand wired to the back of the piece. Each bloom has three center stamens. Each of those have three blue rhinestones on the bottom of each stamen depicting the anthers.
Large, beautifully detailed leaves make a backdrop for these charming blooms. The metal is gold plated brass where the front of leaves show a very faint, transparent green color on them. These look to have originally been lightly enameled closer to the center where the veins are. You can see traces of this if looking very closely. The rest of the metal is gold plated. The brooch shows Haskell construction and design from those early years. Below is the authentication verifying this.
An early, unsigned, brooch, it is an authentic Haskell pin with book verification included. Please view the photos I've added which were taken from the book "Miriam Haskell Jewelry" by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamfiloff showing same design and construction as seen here. One photo I have not pictured from the book shows the same back construction. It is pictured on page 71. You may also view the archived brooch which I sold earlier. I have the photos showing the same construction and design with the book photos along with it. Go to the categories >Miriam Haskell> then to the drop down menu where you will see the Mirian Haskell Archives sub category.
This piece is in beautiful vintage condition. The celluloid flowers are excellent and the gold platied finish only shows very light wear in small areas, mainly on the back stems. All normal and indicative to the age of the pin.
Measures 4.5" long x 2" across
All in all this is an amazing, collectible, brooch, that will be a fabulous addition to the early Miriam Haskell jewelry collection
