Breathtaking vintage french evening bag dating to the Edwardian era. The embroidery is lovely, flowers, buds, leaves with flowing tendrils that dance across the front of the purse, executed in the finest beauvais handwork. But the frame, it is a work of art to be sure. It is very wide, extremely decorated with tiny hand beaded gold and opalescent beads which accent the exquisite, guilloche enameled top. Please see photo for best description. Marked "Made in France" on the inside silk lining.

This hand bag is very good antique condition. Issues noted as follows: Frame is bent on the top corner and protrudes out a bit there, also doesn't line up perfectly on that side. It still functions nicely and closes properly. I believe it may be adjusted by a qualified professional. Tiny beads seem to be all present. There may be some missing but I have not seen where this would be, certainly nothing visible if viewing it normally. There is enamel loss on one area of the main enameled decoration at the top of the purse. This is the turquoise enamel. Inside lining shows some staining and what looks to be pen marks. Embroidered flowers are excellent. Overall this is GORGEOUS . Measures 6~1/2" across at the top area, approx. 10" across at the widest center point. Frame measures 6~1/2" across x 1" wide at the top. It is completely beaded around the corners and all the way down to the where the frame opens fully. So it's 1" across at the top corners, then graduating down in width all the way to 1/4" at the bottom opening, Measurement from the top to the fully opened area measures approx. 2~1/2", All of this intricately beaded! Crazy beautiful, lol~Pictures just don't do it justice, if you need more photos just email.
