I know, another seashell necklace, couldn't help myself, lol! But what a striking combination. Big, beautiful seashell to which I applied an authentic art deco centerpiece to. This just looked so lovely together and since the deco piece was originally a necklace which was not intact anymore I couldn't let it go without it being a necklace again. Soooo, I decided to make a necklace with it as a focal point which it was in its' past life. I love the vintage glass pearls in combination with 1930's rhinestone art deco pieces, especially the ones which are made with pot metal. This is a double strand necklace where I used older glass pearl beads. One strand has larger pearls than the other and I also added aurora borealis crystal beads for a bit of sparkle. Not too much, just enough to sparkle softly and catch the light. All of these pearls are from the 1940's era. As always I backstrung the ends at the connectors so there are no cut cords showing. Can't take it, if not backstrung I think a necklace looks a bit sloppy. Since I strung directly to the deco piece which is pot metal and somewhat fragile, I reinforced that area by applying filigree caps and tiny pearls for more support. It's artistically done so it looks beautiful on the back as well as the front. If you take normal care with it this will stay secure and last forever.... Okay, almost forever. The condition is excellent vintage with the soft pearl coating showing almost no wear. I will note one itty bitty spot on one of the pearls. Hardly worth mentioning but noted. I made it adjustable in length and signed it in two places. One with my Ellen Original copper hang tag and also with a cartouche on the back of the seashell. It measures 18" total adjustable length. The seashell has a very soft salmon shade to it at the top. The center piece itself measures 2~1/2" long x 2~3/4 across at the widest point. The shell is domed, highly domed, giving it an especially beautiful and striking look. Since I didn't make earrings I have pictured this with two vintage pair. The rhinestone pair is from the 1940's-50's era and the pearl cab pair date to the 1960's era. They will be available to buy soon, just haven't listed them for sale yet.
