Charming milk glass dangling flower beads set the tone for Summer in this beautiful and older fringe necklace. The flower beads look to be from the 1930's era. However, the metal seen in the dangling flowers seems much older than the metal seen in the neck chain. Also they are different in color with the neck chain having a very light bright gold plated finish which looks silver in certain light conditions. It also has a rhodium plated finish on it so it looks new, though it's not. The chain also has a hook clasp which is stamped "Made in Germany" which is a different stamp, (and from my research), it was used in pre-WWII Germany before the 1950's stamp "Made in Western Germany" However, it was used after the Berlin Wall fell, but again, most, of the newer pieces are stamped "Western Germany" Also the chain is an older one... but 1940"s...I don't know, maybe 1950's. So this is a bit of a mystery, maybe someone re-attached all of these glass flowers onto the chain later on, perhaps the late 1940's? But what a job, I quick counted over 70 glass flower beads!
Anyway, the necklace is so pretty no matter what is going on with it.
The rare glass flower beads are in very good vintage condition, no damage that I could see. The silver metal head pins used in the the flowers have a patina on it adding to the contrast of the light and dark metals now. Very cool piece measuring 16" total length which could easily be lengthened by adding more chain. I would recommend tightening the loops on a few os the flower beads before wearing it as I see some have opened slightly over time and you don't want to lose any of these lovely glass flowers.
