Product Description

"Arts and Crafts Era jewelry started from a design movement that happened between 1869 and 1910, with some carry over into the 1930s. Inspiration for the designs was taken from the art and writings of William Morris, John Ruskin, and Augustus Pugin. The first designs in the style were created in the British Isles, and focused on the expert craftsmanship with traditional forms such as medieval styles, symmetrical geometric shapes, vines, leaves, birds, and simple flowers. In the middle of an otherwise Industrial age, the art style sought to be more anti-industrial. By using materials such as brass, silver, ceramics, and faceted cut glass as well as gemstones, this vintage style seemed vintage even when it was new".

ARTS & CRAFTS BRASS PLATED PURPLE FACETED CRYSTAL PIN,
HARD WHITE METAL WITH BRASS OVERLAY,
ABSTRACT ORGANIC DESIGN
DISTRESSED HAMMERED METAL
GREAT FOR A GOTHIC WEDDING

1895 - 1905Large amethyst purple glass stone measures approx. 1~1/2" x 1" in size

Beautifully unique with distressed metal laying over the edges of the huge purple glass stone. Unusual organic shape overall.

Very Good antique condition for its age. The purple glass stone shows 2 fine scratches on the back. One tiny scratch is noted on the front,
(towards the side area of the stone) A tiny nick is noted on the inner side edge. Neither of the front issues are seen if viewing the piece normally,
not noticeable unless looking very closely. Brass metal could use a gentle polishing to high the raised areas.
The glass stone is very deep at the back so the pin back has a slight bend at the center. This is not a flaw, just the way it was constructed
Irregular roundish shape measures 2~3/8" across at the widest point

Please keep in mind though we may rate vintage jewelry as in very good to excellent vintage condition, these pieces are pre-owned and may show very gentle wear. This is only pertaining to normal wear as in very slight loss of brilliance in stones, faint, barely visible scratches on metal, and patina on certain metals such as brass and silver / silver plated metal
