NOUVEAU ART DECO CZECH AMBER TOPAZ GLASS & BRASS LAVALIER NECKLACE
Incredible necklace featuring elements of both Art Deco and Art Nouveau design, as well as both silver and gold metals. This is truly fabulous example of Czechoslovakian workmanship and design. Elegant, embossed, art deco, neck chain has violet flowers soldered to the three, front, focal areas on the chain at the center of the necklace. A smoky Topaz glass stone is the focal point of the drop which secured onto a filigree metal back with flowing, gold plated, leaves, and flowers, done in a beautiful, art nouveau, design. Another, smaller, emerald cut, topaz glass stone connects each side of the chain to the lavalier drop. A floral box style clasp has other flowers on the top of it continuing the enchanting nature theme of this necklace
Point of interest - Miriam Haskell used these types of decorated clasps in her early pieces. Though I am not sure enough of this necklace to say it's a Haskell, I will leave it that she was inspired by the Czechoslovakian artists from the period.
Beautiful condition, no issues to note. Lovely patina. Some normal wear to the plated finishes is noted, nothing serious or unusual for a necklace from this period and nothing that detracts from the beauty of this unusual piece. So please keep in mind though we may rate vintage jewelry as in very good to excellent vintage condition, these pieces are pre-owned and may show some gentle gentle wear. This is only pertaining to normal wear as in very slight loss of brilliance in stones, faint, barely visible scratches on metal, and patina on certain metals such as brass and silver / silver plated metal
Neck chain length - 16~1/2"
